Lykins Energy Solutions Blood Drive on February 20th.

Hoxworth Blood Center

Don Lykins, (2nd generation ownership of Lykins) died of blood cancer just a few short years ago.  Don had several blood transfusions over the course of his treatment, which prolonged his life for many years.  Without the generosity of volunteer blood donors, Don would have had a much shorter life.  Lykins Energy Solutions remains committed to sponsoring our yearly blood drive in Don’s name.

Your donation does matter.  Every donation can save the lives of up to three people.  All it takes to volunteer is fifteen minutes to help someone in need.

When thinking about donation blood, please consider these points:
-More than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day.
-Blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors.
-Most donated red blood cells must be used within 42 days of collection.
-Donated platelets must be used within 5 days of collection – new donations are constantly needed.

Please visit www.hoxworth.org/groups/lykins and click on the big red “Donate Blood” circle in the center of the page to schedule your time slot.

PUCO Warns of Utility Payment Scam

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio is warning utility customers of a payment scam that has surfaced across the state over the past few weeks.

The scam is targeting particularly electric and natural gas utility customers, both residential and small business.  A caller claiming to represent the utility informs the customer that they owe money from their past bill and must pay immediately or face termination of service.  Customers are instructed to purchase a pre-paid debit card and then call a toll free number to transfer the money.

Most utilities do not ask for pre-paid debit cards for payment and provide ample time for customers to make a payment before service is terminated.  Customers having questions about their account should call the appropriate utility.  A listing of PUCO regulated utility company customer service numbers can be found here.

Customers believing they have been a victim of payment fraud are encouraged to contact their local authorities as well.

Please visit the PUCO website for more information.  www.puco.ohio.gov

PUCO Advises to Arrange for Propane Supply Early

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the Propane Education & Research Council have posted 5 steps to take to prepare for the coming winter season.

1. Check your current propane supply.  Make sure that you are aware of your current supply to decide your needs to get through the heating season.

2. Call your provider.  Get in touch with the propane provider that issued your tank.  Begin a good working relationship and develop a plan for your propane supply including refills, automatic refills and payment programs to make sure your tank stays full.

3. Fill up early.  By filling your tank early (before the demand for propane increases due to falling temperatures) you can help your provider better plan for supply needs so that everyone has a safe and comfortable winter.

4. Make sure your home or business is running efficiently.  Have a technician check your appliances and propane system, look for energy efficient upgrades like programmable thermostats, let the sun naturally heat your home by opening curtains and set your water heater no higher than 120 degrees.

5. Explore the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).  HEAP is available to income-eligible customers in Ohio.  For more information visit www.winterheat.ohio.gov

IMG_1271

On September 11, 2014, Lykins Energy Solutions sponsored its 25th annual charity golf tournament at Legendary Run Golf Club.  Jeff Lykins serves as President and CEO of Lykins Energy Solutions and is proud to carry on his family tradition of giving back to the community.  In addition to his duties as President and CEO, Jeff serves on numerous non-profit and business boards in the area.  Although many businesses support the event by attending and donating, Jeff noted Copper Blue Restaurant in Milford provided all the lunches for the golfers and DigiMax donated all the print materials and staff golf shirts for the event.  In addition, Legendary Run Golf Course made a significant in kind contribution for the event.

This year, as in the past 15 years, CASA for Clermont Kids has been the beneficiary of Jeff’s and his staff’s efforts.  He believes that the work done by CASA helps make Clermont County a better place to live and work.  CASA for Clermont Kids and its volunteers serve abused, neglected, and dependent children in Clermont County.  Every day in Clermont County children are removed from their homes by Children’s Protective Services and are thrust into the Juvenile Court System, through no fault of their own.  The CASA for Clermont Kids volunteers work to find a safe, loving, and stable atmosphere for this children.

Jeff presented a check to Nathan Bell, the Executive Director of CASA for Clermont Kids, for the proceeds of this years golf tournament on October 3, 2014 at Copper Blue Restaurant in Milford.
